What is it?
The first National Innovation Games for South Australia was held virtually on 7 May 2020 with the theme ‘surfacing a full range of healthcare services for all South Australians’.
The ‘hack-a-thon’ inspired challenge saw students, researchers, government agencies and businesses come together to innovate solutions for healthcare problems in SA. The teams worked through design sprints, with the day culminating in teams pitching their solutions to a judging panel, with the opportunity to win prizes.
How did we make it happen?
We partnered with the Council of Small Business Organisations Australia (COSBOA) and Paddl, to deliver the first virtual National Innovation Games in SA.
The event aimed to solve some of the most pressing healthcare challenges we face today, with 160 of South Australia’s brightest minds from four dozen companies, government agencies, non-profit organisations, universities, and start-ups delivering exceptional innovative thinking and problem-solving.
Congratulations to the winning team
The winning team, ‘Health_e_View’, took first place with their innovative mobile application, ‘ShiftMate’, which aims to improve the health and wellness of shift workers across Australia.
Mobile applications featured strongly in other teams’ solutions as well, including:
- social media platforms
- blockchain applications
- gamification apps.
Turning ideas into solutions
We’re keeping an eye on all of the ideas that were produced on the day and how they’re progressing. Stay tuned for updates and details of more challenges in the future.
