What is the Primary Care Forum?

The Pri­ma­ry Care Forum is a vir­tu­al forum held three times a year by the Pri­ma­ry Care Statewide Clin­i­cal Net­work (SCN).

It brings togeth­er clin­i­cians, pri­ma­ry care health ser­vices and sys­tem part­ners to share ideas, dis­cuss emerg­ing issues and learn what’s hap­pen­ing across pri­ma­ry care in South Australia.

Who can attend the forum?

Peo­ple work­ing across the pri­ma­ry health care sys­tem can participate.

This includes:

  • pri­ma­ry care clin­i­cians, includ­ing gen­er­al prac­ti­tion­ers, nurs­es and allied health
  • pro­fes­sion­als
  • prac­tice own­ers and managers
  • Abo­rig­i­nal health and rur­al and remote health representatives
  • Pri­ma­ry Health Net­works, Local Health Net­works and Depart­ment for Health and Well­be­ing representatives
  • Pro­fes­sion­al asso­ci­a­tions and oth­er stake­hold­ers involved in pri­ma­ry care or health
  • sys­tem improvement
  • not-for-prof­it organ­i­sa­tions work­ing across the pri­ma­ry care sector.
What can I expect at the forum?

You can expect:

  • oppor­tu­ni­ties to share ini­tia­tives, inno­va­tions, chal­lenges and lessons learned
  • dis­cus­sion about emerg­ing issues affect­ing pri­ma­ry care, inte­grat­ed care and the broad­er health system
  • guest pre­sen­ta­tions from pri­ma­ry care, SA Health or part­ner organisations
  • net­work­ing with pri­ma­ry care stake­hold­ers, con­sumers and sys­tem partners
  • updates from the Pri­ma­ry Care Statewide Clin­i­cal Net­work Clin­i­cal Lead, with oppor­tu­ni­ties to con­tribute to discussion.
Why attend the forum?

Is the forum a decision-making committee?

No. The forum sup­ports infor­ma­tion shar­ing, dis­cus­sion and con­sul­ta­tion but is not a for­mal deci­sion-mak­ing committee.

Do I need to attend every forum?

No. Atten­dance is vol­un­tary. Par­tic­i­pants are encour­aged to attend, when pos­si­ble, to stay con­nect­ed and con­tribute to discussions.

Is remuneration available?

No. Remu­ner­a­tion or sit­ting fees are not available.

Can I raise an issue or suggest a topic?

Yes. Par­tic­i­pants can raise issues, oppor­tu­ni­ties and top­ic sug­ges­tions that sup­port shared learn­ing or sys­tem-lev­el improve­ment across pri­ma­ry care.

Where appro­pri­ate, pre­sen­ta­tions, resources or key mes­sages may be shared after the forum, sub­ject to con­fi­den­tial­i­ty, copy­right or approval requirements.
