We’re very pleased to welcome 21 new Certified Health Informatician Australasia (CHIA) graduates, who achieved CHIA certification in November 2024.
We’ve strengthened the state’s digital health and health informatics workforce through our sponsorship of 266 places in the CHIA program, helping to recognise the skills and knowledge of SA’s leaders in digital health and achieve CHIA certification.
‘Health Informatics’ is the science of how to use data, information and knowledge to improve human health and the delivery of health care services.
CHIA is an internationally recognised certification program offered through the peak health informatics body, Australasian Institute of Digital Health (AIDH).
The self-guided study program is designed for professionals in health informatics and information technology roles, and once certified, participants can demonstrate expertise in health informatics principles, concepts, methods and skills, with the ability to apply these in the workplace.
For the first time, our 2024 sponsorship of digital health learning opportunities also included funded places in a new, Digital Health 101 fundamentals course. The self-paced, online course enables participants to build their understanding of digital health and learn how digital health is transforming healthcare on a global scale.
In 2024, our CHIA group achieved its highest examination pass rate, with 96% of participants successfully gaining CHIA certification.
On 2 December, Tina Hardin, our Executive Director of Clinical Informatics and Innovation, hosted a graduation ceremony and networking event, to mark the achievement of the 21 new CHIAs and champion our commitment to building a stronger, data-driven healthcare future for South Australia.
Our next round of limited sponsored CHIA places will be announced in mid-2025.
