Shaping the future of Digital Health: 21 new CHIA graduates sponsored

We’re very pleased to wel­come 21 new Cer­ti­fied Health Infor­mati­cian Aus­trala­sia (CHIA) grad­u­ates, who achieved CHIA cer­ti­fi­ca­tion in Novem­ber 2024. 

We’ve strength­ened the state’s dig­i­tal health and health infor­mat­ics work­force through our spon­sor­ship of 266 places in the CHIA pro­gram, help­ing to recog­nise the skills and knowl­edge of SA’s lead­ers in dig­i­tal health and achieve CHIA certification.

‘Health Infor­mat­ics’ is the sci­ence of how to use data, infor­ma­tion and knowl­edge to improve human health and the deliv­ery of health care services.

CHIA is an inter­na­tion­al­ly recog­nised cer­ti­fi­ca­tion pro­gram offered through the peak health infor­mat­ics body, Aus­tralasian Insti­tute of Dig­i­tal Health (AIDH).

The self-guid­ed study pro­gram is designed for pro­fes­sion­als in health infor­mat­ics and infor­ma­tion tech­nol­o­gy roles, and once cer­ti­fied, par­tic­i­pants can demon­strate exper­tise in health infor­mat­ics prin­ci­ples, con­cepts, meth­ods and skills, with the abil­i­ty to apply these in the workplace. 

For the first time, our 2024 spon­sor­ship of dig­i­tal health learn­ing oppor­tu­ni­ties also includ­ed fund­ed places in a new, Dig­i­tal Health 101 fun­da­men­tals course. The self-paced, online course enables par­tic­i­pants to build their under­stand­ing of dig­i­tal health and learn how dig­i­tal health is trans­form­ing health­care on a glob­al scale.

In 2024, our CHIA group achieved its high­est exam­i­na­tion pass rate, with 96% of par­tic­i­pants suc­cess­ful­ly gain­ing CHIA certification.

On 2 Decem­ber, Tina Hardin, our Exec­u­tive Direc­tor of Clin­i­cal Infor­mat­ics and Inno­va­tion, host­ed a grad­u­a­tion cer­e­mo­ny and net­work­ing event, to mark the achieve­ment of the 21 new CHIAs and cham­pi­on our com­mit­ment to build­ing a stronger, data-dri­ven health­care future for South Australia. 

Our next round of lim­it­ed spon­sored CHIA places will be announced in mid-2025.
