The Termination of Pregnancy Act 2021 commenced on 7 July 2022 in South Australia, providing a modernisation of termination of pregnancy law and practice and improving the efficiency of health service provision and access, particularly in regional, rural and remote areas.
In line with these reforms and changes, the following methods for reporting obligations for registered health practitioners, hospitals and private day procedure centres to the Chief Executive (as per Termination of Pregnancy Regulations 2022) will be required.
The new Termination of Pregnancy notification form (PDF 1MB) is required to be completed for all terminations of pregnancy in South Australia. This form replaces the previous green termination of pregnancy form (often known as COR19):
- the new Termination of Pregnancy notification form can be filled in digitally using a compatible PDF reader (e.g. Adobe Acrobat Reader) which enables the form to be saved and supplied to the Pregnancy Outcome Unit via a secure link embedded in the form
- the new form can also be printed and submitted via Australia Post (see form for postal details).
Termination of pregnancy service providers located within South Australia are required to comply with information provision under the Termination of Pregnancy Act 2021 regardless of the usual place of residence of the person having the termination of pregnancy.
