CEIH supports future health innovators at Adelaide MedTech Hackathon 2026

The Com­mis­sion on Excel­lence and Inno­va­tion in Health (CEIH) was proud to be the gold spon­sor of the Ade­laide MedTech Hackathon 2026, which brought togeth­er over 180 stu­dents, indus­try pro­fes­sion­als, health prac­ti­tion­ers and men­tors to tack­le real-world health­care challenges.

Across the themes of MedTech, Sus­tain­abil­i­ty, Acces­si­bil­i­ty and Men­tal Health & Lifestyle, par­tic­i­pants demon­strat­ed incred­i­ble cre­ativ­i­ty, col­lab­o­ra­tion and prob­lem-solv­ing, devel­op­ing inno­v­a­tive ideas with the poten­tial to deliv­er mean­ing­ful impact across the health system.

CEI­H’s Senior Inno­va­tion Project Offi­cer, Annie Wheel­er, brought her inno­va­tion exper­tise to the event, open­ing with a keynote on the pow­er of inno­va­tion in health­care. She went on to men­tor par­tic­i­pants and judge the final pitch­es, sup­port­ing teams to devel­op their ideas into prac­ti­cal solutions.

Reflect­ing on the event, Annie high­light­ed the val­ue of cre­at­ing oppor­tu­ni­ties for the next gen­er­a­tion of inno­va­tors to have ded­i­cat­ed time and space to chal­lenge the sta­tus quo and think dif­fer­ent­ly about how we might tack­le some of the sys­tem’s most promi­nent health issues.

The Ade­laide MedTech Hackathon plays an impor­tant role in fos­ter­ing a cul­ture of inno­va­tion in health, build­ing the pipeline of future inno­va­tors and lead­ers, and sup­port­ing the devel­op­ment of impact­ful solutions.

The event also pro­vid­ed an oppor­tu­ni­ty to show­case the CEI­H’s Inno­va­tion Mod­el and sup­port­ing inno­va­tion resources, help­ing inno­va­tors nav­i­gate the jour­ney from iden­ti­fy­ing an idea to sus­tain­able solution.

Con­grat­u­la­tions to all par­tic­i­pants, organ­is­ers, men­tors and win­ning teams on an out­stand­ing event. We look for­ward to see­ing these ideas con­tin­ue to evolve and cre­ate mean­ing­ful impact across the health system.
