High-quality cancer care relies on a workforce that is supported and sustainable. The CEIH, in partnership with the South Australian Comprehensive Cancer Network (SACCaN), are launching the Cancer Workforce Wellbeing and Sustainability Initiative, a statewide effort designed to strengthen workforce wellbeing, retention and long-term sustainability across SA cancer services.
Why workforce wellbeing and sustainability?
The SA Cancer Plan recognises workforce wellbeing and sustainability as an important part of maintaining high quality cancer care in an environment where demand and complexity is increasing. Addressing modifiable workforce pressures can support staff wellbeing, engagement and retention, with potential flow-on improvements in the delivery of safe and consistent care.
Our approach
Based on the CEIH Workplace Wellbeing Framework, the Cancer Workforce Wellbeing and Sustainability Initiative will partner with metropolitan and regional SA cancer services to identify and address work factors that influence wellbeing and sustainability.
Participating services will be supported by the CEIH and SACCaN to collaborate with frontline staff to co-design improvements to improve their experience of work. At a system level, this initiative supports shared learning and aims to build capability to address broader factors affecting workforce wellbeing and sustainability across SA’s cancer services.
Expressions of interest (EOI)
CEIH and SACCaN are seeking EOIs from metropolitan and regional SA Health cancer services wanting to partner in the initiative.
For further information, or to discuss submitting an EOI, contact the CEIH Workplace Wellbeing Partnerships Team at ceih.workplacewellbeing@sa.gov.au.
EOI closes 5:00pm, Friday, 11 September 2026.
