This com­mu­ni­ty forum cel­e­brates the role of art in Pal­lia­tive & End-of-Life care, hon­our­ing the lega­cy of Kathryn Houri­g­an — a pas­sion­ate con­sumer advo­cate, the con­sumer co-lead for the Pal­lia­tive Care Statewide Clin­i­cal Net­work and artist. 

Inspired by the suc­cess­ful 2024 Artist in Res­i­dence project at Flinders Med­ical Centre’s Lau­rel Hos­pice, this event will bring togeth­er com­mu­ni­ty mem­bers, health­care providers, and artists to explore how cre­ative expres­sion can sup­port heal­ing, reflec­tion, and con­nec­tion at the end of life. 

What to Expect

  • A cap­ti­vat­ing pre­sen­ta­tion by artist Daniel Con­nell, whose work draws on sto­ries from his res­i­den­cy with the Flinders and Upper North Local Health Net­work Pal­lia­tive Care services 
  • Oppor­tu­ni­ties to engage with local com­mu­ni­ties and region­al health providers 
  • Inter­ac­tive ses­sions to fos­ter com­mu­ni­ty con­nec­tion and shared reflection
