Through discussions across the health innovation ecosystem, we identified a need for a state-wide architecture to develop and mobilise innovation that brings together diverse perspectives to achieve systemic change.
In March 2023 attendees from across the healthcare system came together, and through meaningful discussions concluded that a group such as this, an Innovation Collaborative, could make an impact across the system. A key takeaway from the first event was the recognition of the immense potential of a unified platform to address complex and wicked challenges and the power in leveraging our collective resources, knowledge, and experience.
Two further events were held throughout 2023 to shape the concept into a tangible plan to move the Collaborative forward. The key elements of the proposed structure include:
- Architecture to foster an open exchange of wisdom and perspectives.
- A collective direction encouraging systemic change that benefits the whole health system, transcending across jurisdictions.
The concept of the Innovation Collaborative has generated interest across multiple agencies, and through ongoing engagement with the sector, its purpose and value proposition has been refined.
Earlier this month, the nominated Innovation Collaborative Working Group met to draw upon the findings from the co-design workshops in 2023 to set the objectives and plan for 2024, and started developing the agenda for the next event. It was agreed that there was huge value for the system if frameworks for innovation could be developed and key challenges addressed including those relating to data and technologies.
We’re looking forward to the official launch of the Innovation Collaborative in 2024, with our first event to be held in March, bringing to life the collective vision, and underpinned by ‘ways of working’.
