We’ve been busy laying the foundations for the first state-wide Innovation Collaborative

Through dis­cus­sions across the health inno­va­tion ecosys­tem, we iden­ti­fied a need for a state-wide archi­tec­ture to devel­op and mobilise inno­va­tion that brings togeth­er diverse per­spec­tives to achieve sys­temic change. 

In March 2023 atten­dees from across the health­care sys­tem came togeth­er, and through mean­ing­ful dis­cus­sions con­clud­ed that a group such as this, an Inno­va­tion Col­lab­o­ra­tive, could make an impact across the sys­tem. A key take­away from the first event was the recog­ni­tion of the immense poten­tial of a uni­fied plat­form to address com­plex and wicked chal­lenges and the pow­er in lever­ag­ing our col­lec­tive resources, knowl­edge, and experience. 

Two fur­ther events were held through­out 2023 to shape the con­cept into a tan­gi­ble plan to move the Col­lab­o­ra­tive for­ward. The key ele­ments of the pro­posed struc­ture include: 

• Archi­tec­ture to fos­ter an open exchange of wis­dom and perspectives. 
• A col­lec­tive direc­tion encour­ag­ing sys­temic change that ben­e­fits the whole health sys­tem, tran­scend­ing across jurisdictions.

The con­cept of the Inno­va­tion Col­lab­o­ra­tive has gen­er­at­ed inter­est across mul­ti­ple agen­cies, and through ongo­ing engage­ment with the sec­tor, its pur­pose and val­ue propo­si­tion has been refined. 

Ear­li­er this month, the nom­i­nat­ed Inno­va­tion Col­lab­o­ra­tive Work­ing Group met to draw upon the find­ings from the co-design work­shops in 2023 to set the objec­tives and plan for 2024, and start­ed devel­op­ing the agen­da for the next event. It was agreed that there was huge val­ue for the sys­tem if frame­works for inno­va­tion could be devel­oped and key chal­lenges addressed includ­ing those relat­ing to data and technologies. 

We’re look­ing for­ward to the offi­cial launch of the Inno­va­tion Col­lab­o­ra­tive in 2024, with our first event to be held in March, bring­ing to life the col­lec­tive vision, and under­pinned by ​‘ways of working’.
