Health informatics is the application of information technology to healthcare and plays a vital role in improving the quality of patient care, helping to reduce healthcare costs, and enhancing the efficiency of healthcare operations. It is a rapidly evolving field, and requires leaders who can think creatively, adapt to change, take risks, embrace new technologies and have an ongoing commitment to learning and development.
The Certified Health Informatician Australasia (CHIA) is an internationally recognised certification through the peak health informatics body AIDH (Australasian Institute of Digital Health) that demonstrates certificate holders have a deep level of knowledge and expertise across multiple domains in health informatics. Achieving CHIA is not for everyone – it requires self-guided study across multiple domains.
We are excited to announce that the next round of the CEIH sponsored CHIA Expression of Interest will open on the 15 May 2023 for two weeks. If you’re interested in advancing your knowledge and skills in integrated healthcare and health information technology, this opportunity is for you!
CHIA is designed for professionals who are involved in the design, implementation, and management of health information systems. Leaders who hold the CHIA certification are abreast with the latest health informatics trends and can effectively lead their organisations through the implementation of new technologies and processes.
Some of the key skills and competencies that CHIA-certified professionals possess include:
- Knowledge of health informatics standards and regulations
- Proficiency in health information system design, implementation, and management
- Expertise in clinical decision support systems
- Understanding of electronic health records and health information exchange
- Knowledge of health data analytics and reporting
More information about eligibility and the process to submit your application will be available on our website shortly. Watch this space.
