Innovation is frequently discussed in healthcare, yet its practical application remains elusive. To bridge this gap, we partnered with SA Health’s Young Professionals Group (YPG) to host the ‘Igniting Innovation’ conference in May 2024. This event aimed to inspire, motivate, and empower the SA Health workforce through a combination of engaging workshops and enlightening presentations from industry leaders.
Driving participation across South Australia
Demonstrating a strong commitment to equity, the CEIH sponsored nine regional SA Health staff members by covering their transport, accommodation, and event ticket costs. The Rural Support Service provided invaluable assistance by arranging accommodation and flights for all attendees. Additionally, seven scholarships were awarded to First Nations participants.
Our diverse audience comprised representatives from every Local Health Network in South Australia, spanning 50 professions and age groups from 19 to 72 years old. The event fostered a rich social environment for SA Health staff.
Innovation unleashed at a sold-out workshop
The CEIH’s sold-out workshop fostered unprecedented collaboration among diverse disciplines and sectors within SA Health. Participants co-created innovative solutions while gaining practical insights into the innovation journey. The workshop’s impact was substantial: over 95% of attendees deepened their understanding of innovation, and a remarkable 83% expressed confidence in applying these learnings to their roles.
Inspiring speakers and engaging discussions
Hosted by YPG, the conference featured a stellar lineup of speakers, including our Commissioner Prof. Keith McNeil. These industry leaders shared their expertise on various aspects of innovation. These discussions inspired and equipped the attendees with actionable insights, such as the importance of psychological safety, to drive innovation forward. The event was a resounding success, with 98% of attendees recommending it to colleagues.
