SA Health staff challenged to innovate the future of Allied Health Advanced Clinical Practice roles

16 Aug 2024

To cultivate a culture of innovation across the health system, we partnered with the SA Health Allied and Scientific Health Office (ASHO) to support the design and delivery of a state-wide Innovation Challenge.

Running from August 2023 to May 2024, the challenge encouraged critical and creative thinking, fostered ideation, supported cross system collaboration, and embedded innovation practice into project design and delivery.

With 46 submissions from right across the system, the challenge successfully raised awareness of the SA Health Allied Health Advanced Clinical Practice Framework and identified opportunities to interrogate potential Allied Health Advanced Clinical Practice roles in SA Health services. The challenge helped support ASHO adopt an innovation-based methodology to unearth innovative solutions that will inform future initiatives whilst overall, helping to support a culture of innovation.

An ASHO evaluation revealed that 82% of participants gained an increased awareness of the Allied Health Advanced Clinical Practice Statewide Framework, and 91% of participants expressed interest in future initiatives.

To support challenge winners, we provided pitch training for their presentations at the ASHO symposium on May 232024.

This partnership highlighted the impact collaboration has when delivering excellence in the field of innovation, highlighting opportunities for improved care.
