Sharyn is a member of the Statewide Surgical and Perioperative Care Clinical Network, one of eight Statewide Clinical Networks. She shares that after unexpectedly navigating the healthcare system as a consumer, she became motivated to address some of the gaps she encountered.
“I believe that all systems have room for continuous improvement, and I am grateful that the CEIH is committed to incorporating consumer perspectives” Sharyn said. By attending Network Steering Committee meetings with clinicians and other stakeholders every two months, Sharyn brings the consumer voice and lived experience to discussions on initiatives and provides feedback on activities such as grant applications.
As a CEIH Consumer representative, Sharyn is one of many members of the CEIH Community of Consumers. Led by Paul Williams the CEIH Consumer and Community Lead, the Community of Consumers engage consumers, carers and the community to lift their voice and ensure that people are truly at the centre of what we do. The Community of Consumers help CEIH teams ensure that our engagement with consumers, through representation and other mechanisms, is meaningful and guides our work.
