Meet Sharyn Coles – one of CEIH’s Consumer representatives

Sharyn is a mem­ber of the Statewide Sur­gi­cal and Peri­op­er­a­tive Care Clin­i­cal Net­work, one of eight Statewide Clin­i­cal Net­works. She shares that after unex­pect­ed­ly nav­i­gat­ing the health­care sys­tem as a con­sumer, she became moti­vat­ed to address some of the gaps she encountered. 

I believe that all sys­tems have room for con­tin­u­ous improve­ment, and I am grate­ful that the CEIH is com­mit­ted to incor­po­rat­ing con­sumer per­spec­tives” Sharyn said. By attend­ing Net­work Steer­ing Com­mit­tee meet­ings with clin­i­cians and oth­er stake­hold­ers every two months, Sharyn brings the con­sumer voice and lived expe­ri­ence to dis­cus­sions on ini­tia­tives and pro­vides feed­back on activ­i­ties such as grant applications. 

As a CEIH Con­sumer rep­re­sen­ta­tive, Sharyn is one of many mem­bers of the CEIH Com­mu­ni­ty of Con­sumers. Led by Paul Williams the CEIH Con­sumer and Com­mu­ni­ty Lead, the Com­mu­ni­ty of Con­sumers engage con­sumers, car­ers and the com­mu­ni­ty to lift their voice and ensure that peo­ple are tru­ly at the cen­tre of what we do. The Com­mu­ni­ty of Con­sumers help CEIH teams ensure that our engage­ment with con­sumers, through rep­re­sen­ta­tion and oth­er mech­a­nisms, is mean­ing­ful and guides our work.
