Clinical Genomics in SA Plan 2026-2030

The Clinical Genomics SCN is developing a new plan to guide its work as it steers SA to maximise the benefits of the genomic revolution for South Australians.

The Opportunity

Rapid advancements in DNA sequencing and analysis have transformed our understanding of biology, enabling more precise diagnosis, prevention and treatment of disease.

A new National Health Genomics Policy Framework and Implementation Plan 2026 – 2030 is being developed and given that the previous SA genomics plan has now expired, it is timely for a new plan to be developed.

Our approach

The new plan will be developed by the Clinical Genomics SCN, building on the previous SA plan and will be guided by the new national genomics framework.

Outcomes

We are developing a plan that guides the work of the Clinical Genomics SCN over the next five years to maximise the health benefits to South Australians from the genomic revolution through better disease prevention, earlier diagnosis and better targeted treatment, while managing the associated risks and social, legal and ethical issues.
