This project will devel­op, val­i­date and imple­ment a dig­i­tal inter­ven­tion sur­veil­lance pro­gram to man­age the grow­ing demand for colono­scopies, while estab­lish­ing a data reg­istry for future can­cer research.

Vision and goals

Vision

To iden­ti­fy and address key sys­tem pri­or­i­ties that may both pre­vent the require­ment for sur­gi­cal ser­vices and improve expe­ri­ence and out­comes for all South Aus­tralians by ensur­ing access, appro­pri­ate­ness and effi­cien­cy across their sur­gi­cal journey.

Goals

The Sur­gi­cal and Peri­op­er­a­tive Care Net­work aims to improve health out­comes and expe­ri­ences for all South Aus­tralians across the sur­gi­cal jour­ney, and to decrease the require­ment for sur­gi­cal services.

Dr Phil Worley

Surgical and Perioperative Care Statewide Clinical Network Clinical Lead

Phil Wor­ley orig­i­nal­ly trained and worked as a rur­al GP before under­tak­ing Spe­cial­ist train­ing and spend­ing the last 20 years as a Con­sul­tant Gen­er­al Sur­geon in both the pub­lic and pri­vate systems.

He hopes to improve cross net­work col­lab­o­ra­tion with­in the state’s health sys­tem, and the sur­gi­cal jour­ney of all South Aus­tralians from diag­no­sis to discharge.

Phil recog­nis­es this requires the input and coop­er­a­tion of a broad cross sec­tion of stake­hold­ers and is look­ing for­ward to lead­ing an enthu­si­as­tic and com­mit­ted team to achieve this goal.
