We recently welcomed Associate Professor Christine Burdeniuk to the CEIH as the Clinical Lead, Cardiac Care Statewide Clinical Network. Christine brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this role, having dedicated many years to advancing cardiac care through her clinical practice and research.
Since 2009 Christine has been providing care to patients with advanced heart failure and pulmonary arterial hypertension throughout SALHN and established a tertiary level heart failure service in Mt Gambier.
She has worked with the CALHN Centre of Advanced Heart and Lung disease as the Cardiac Lead to develop and standardise the management of advanced heart failure and heart transplant patients in CALHN.
She is actively involved in heart failure clinical trials and Australian heart failure guidelines.
Christine strongly believes it is important to focus on the early detection of cardiac disease and optimisation of cardiac risk factor control to prevent and minimise the development of heart failure.
With Christine as the new Clinical Lead, current projects will continue, including:
- Statewide Impella / Mitra-Clip program
- Heart failure guideline / standardised referral pathway
- Position statement and model of care for a statewide remote monitoring program
- GP engagement – including Healthcare Pathways
- Consumer feedback and engagement survey
- Statewide Cardiac Rehabilitation program and model of care
- Exploring a standardised cardiac nursing workforce education and training model
We are excited to be working with Christine to drive innovation in cardiac care across the state.
